Vulcan H3 #196 — December 22, 2009
So with the Christmas Season in full swing, the Hashers gathered to run a bit, enjoy the decorations and sample a bit of the holiday cheer. So with the hares running late from planning the trail, and some others lost and confused as to where Mafiosa's was (not that anyone cares where it is anymore), there was a wee bit of delay in the gathering of the pack. However, eventually all were present, and off the Hares dashed. Boop Job picked up her role as RA with ease as Douche was absent to care for his little one. Do you think she knows his hash name? Anyway, Boop opened the hash, though in the future she should perhaps wait till the hares are truly away, and not just around the corner laying the marks for explanation. We had a Virgin run with us, yours truly's wife, Niamh. She was welcomed, given her sacred object and off the pack ran, leaving the ever feisty Boop to secure a table for the 12 of us at Mafiosa's, a task made more difficult by bitchy hostesses who can't be bothered to actually pull two tables together, or even figure out how to divide 12 into multiple sets. Apparently basic division is not needed to hostess in Crestline (12 divided by tables of 4 would be 3, we need three tables of 4, see was that so hard?)
But I digress, back to the run. The Hares led a merry trail, one that allowed viewing many of the brightly decorated homes in the Crestline area. Though it was mostly a simple trail, there were a few wrinkles thrown in, a couple of YBF's and false trails, a beer check that was accompanied by some odd crashing of bushes, and a visit to a playground (though at least no one injured themselves on the monkey bars). After a fairly short trail, the group discovered that there was no room at the inn, so we moved next over to La Paz, who was more than happy to accommodate a largish group of people who wanted to eat some food and drink some beer. Strange that other restaurants would turn that away, but hey, I guess the folks over at Mafiosa's know what they are doing turning customers away with vapid staff.
So, no circle, but Niamh did do her beer and banana shot, and was welcomed to the hash as NFN Niamh. She will get a proper lesson in the art of the Down-Down next time she runs. Thanks to Banana Grabber and Bah Bah Lost Shit for haring.
On a side note, I am glad to be back on a schedule that should allow me to hash most weeks, and you should all see a return to a mostly regular hash trash. Thanks for putting up with the interruption.
