Vulcan H3 #156 — March 24, 2009 — hashflash
Hey there hash folk, I, as usual, arrived latish so I missed a bit of the pre-run shenanigans, but I will fill you in as best as I can. We had virgins in our midst, and so they were given the sacred objects. There was also NFN Sydney, our youngest hasher still being counted in months, who was happy to watch the show from her cushy perch on daddies back. Then there was some general pre-lubing and Frisbee tossing while the group awaited us last minute arrivals. Steamy Carrot started the hash, and let the group know that it was a pick-up hash. He explained the general idea, that someone would start out, run for about 10 minutes or until caught, and pass the job on to someone else, who would then go for about 10 minutes themselves, and pass to a third and likely final hare. Due to some wisecrack to the acting RA about starting on time, I was unceremoniously dubbed the starting hare. After a brief explanation of the marks for the Virgins, off I went.
So I ran for about 10 minutes, maybe 12, and ended up with no plan not too far from SOHO, so I stopped. Getting bored with waiting I decided to loop back and catch the group from behind as they crossed 31. No sign of them there, so I tried to loop further back, and ended up getting spotted as I tried to find them, which pulled everyone back to me, away from the flour. So I ended up leading the group back over 31, and to the flour. Missionary Impossible took the task from there. Perhaps we should have been worried that he stated he did not know where he was, and needed to be pointed in the general direction of the start. Or perhaps he just has a poor internal clock, but the trail he laid wandered around, disappearing a couple of times, only to be found later blocks away. In the end he led us (sort of) around Homewood, across SOHO, through the tunnel and back to the neighborhoods. At this point we were out of flour, the walkers had split for a direct route back, and the consensus was that we had been at this long enough. Steamy dabbed the last of the flour on his back and off he went to lead the way home.
After the elegant PB&J, chips and fruit spread laid out by Banana Grabber, circle was begun. I as usual didn't take any notes, so forgive me if I forget something in the list below. The beermeister was slightly under prepared, so at the beginning Rimjob69 was sent on a beer run, but that was ok, as he hadn't run with us, and only joined because we just happened to be hashing where he was riding. OK, back to circle:
Down-Downs
Hares
Hold the Mayo, Missionary Impossible, Steamy Carrot (sort of)FRB
NFN Luke (but he shortcut, so we added NFN ShawnFBI
LunadykDFL
NFN Justice and NFN SydneySafety Thirds
NFN Justice for crossing 31 with a toddler on his back and You've Got To Be Kidding Me for being overly cautious and waiting for the green light to cross 31Hash-it
I brought the hash-it back, and explained that since I was awarded it for the "unmanly" knowledge that a glove without individual fingers is called a mitten I added the most unmanly thing I could find, a tiara, though since I didn't feel that it was that bad I did use Duct Tape to attach it. Nominations were limited to Missionary for the worst marked and longest 10 minute trail ever and NFN Justice for baby on board. NFN Justice won the day in an animal infused vote.Virgins
Both virgins Tracy and Shannon still had their sacred objects (you're slipping Banana Grabber) so initiations were undertaken, and after some brief horror from Tracy, the hash was treated to quite the show by Shannon and Justice. Welcome to the hash.
With that circle was closed.
Next week, for your hashing pleasure, Missionary Impossible (may he learn to lay a trail between now and then) from Best Buy near the Galleria (I think).
- Hold the Mayo
Also, our sister hash Magic City H3 is hashing this weekend. Here's the info:
